Message from the Chairman

You are most cordially invited to take part in the 2006 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility from August 14 – 18, 2006 at the Portland Oregon Convention Center. We are excited to invite you to participate in the symposium being held in Portland for the first time. Welcome to the Silicon Forest! Home of some of the largest and smallest high tech companies in the world!

Portland has long been recognized as the “City of Roses”, but has gained recognition as the city of books, bridges, bikes and blooms. Portland is framed by beautiful Mt. Hood to the east and lush green hills to the west, which lead to the Silicon Forest. With a short drive to the east or to the west you can arrive at the base of Mt. Hood or the picturesque Oregon coast.

Portland is known for it’s “half-size” city blocks which make it very easy to get around downtown to enjoy the many, many fun and interesting places it encompasses. From shops to galleries to museums to coffee houses, book stores and brew pubs, you can find something to “stop in” for along your way. Enjoy the family friendly attitude and laid-back pace while you tour the many beautiful places around town: Waterfront Park, the Pearl District, Old Town and Northwest Portland, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), the International Rose Test Garden and the Japanese Garden, the Oregon Zoo and the Children’s Museum.

Be part of “Exploring EMC Frontiers” as we step into the future of EMC, while recognizing the 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and the 300th birthday of the great Ben Franklin.

Sincerely,

Henry Benitez
Chairman, 2006 IEEE EMC Symposium
